Buying Property in Mexico - It's Actually Easy

Contrary to popular belief, owning real estate in Mexico is quite easy and well within reach.  We have owners from all parts of the world including Canada, Europe, Latin America and the United States, just to name a few.  As such, Mexico has invested billions of dollars to establish some of the most luxurious and groundbreaking developments in it's history.

How to get started:

  • Aligning yourself with an agent that will look out for your best interests is the first step in a successful purchase.  We'll discuss your priorities, criteria, timing and comfortable price range.  Please consider the following:
  1. Area - Playa Del Carmen, Puerto Morelos, Cancun, Puerto Aventuras
  2. Type of Property - Vacation home, Condominum for rental, Investment lot, Pre-construction to "flip," etc...
  3. Use of property - retirement income or home, strictly investment, commercial purposes.
  4. Price Range - And whether you will be financing or paying "cash."
  5. Specific criteria - on the beach, near 5th Avenue, Jungle lot, visible commercial corner.
  6. Timing of purchase - This is key if you are considering a pre-sale opportunity!

  • Brouse Real Estate listings and publications for the Riviera Maya.  Let me know which types of properties you are interested in.  Whether on my website or another agencies, jot down the vital information such as property name, price and MLS# (if listed) and I can research the property for you. We'll come up with a workable list of options and then dive into the particulars once we have narrowed down the list.  Keep in mind, you can always send me the listing, call at any of the numbers I have listed ( US: 303 800 6637 ) or write me at holly@playarealestateadvisor.com to discuss any questions you have about a property.  At the same time, I will be contacting other agents, developers and/or owners for all properties that meet your particular needs.  Then, upon your visit, I will have prepared a detailed itinerary and tour of property options on your behalf.

  • Speak to an attorney in the area.  While you may want to obtain legal advice from your local counsel, he or she is not authorized to work in Mexico.  As such, "interview" a couple of attorneys here with regard to their expertise.  See who you feel comfortable with and, by all means, ask questions.  Mexican laws and practices differ greatly from those in the United States, Canada and Europe.   I have included some suggestions of bilingual attorneys that my clients have praised for their competency, professionalism, integrity and effectiveness.

  • We´ll start here and work together to make the buying process easy and effortless.  Give me a call and we can get started right away on finding your vacation home, retirement retreat or investment for your future.
